Gerhard Carl Hildebrandt, MD, FACP, is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky and Division Chief of the Division of Hematology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation and Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, Germany. He received his medical degree from the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz Medical School, Germany, in 1997. Upon completing his doctoral research thesis, he was awarded the "doctor medicinae" with magna cum laude. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Hematology and Oncology fellowship at the University of Regensburg, Germany and became Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematologic Malignancies Attending at the University of Regensburg. In 2009 he was awarded the "Habilitation", the highest academic qualification a scholar can achieve by own pursuit in Germany. Hildebrandt was faculty member at the Louisiana State University in Shreveport, and at the University of Utah. He was the director of the bone marrow transplant program at LSUHSC Shreveport and director of the Utah Blood and Marrow Transplant program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute/University of Utah. Hildebrandt is member of ASH, ASCO, ASBMT, AACR, the author of more than 40 articles, books and book chapters, and strongly involved in clinical trials.
